What is Calor Gas?

Switch and enjoy the benefits of gas

Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) from Calor.

Calor Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) is a hydrocarbon gas that exists in liquefied form.  LPG is a colourless, low carbon, highly efficient fuel, supplied in two main forms, Propane (C3H8) and Butane (C₄H₁₀).  LPG is suitable for a range of uses and applications in homes and business off the natural gas grid in Ireland.

Propane defined

Propane (C3H8) is a form of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG). Propane is a gas but can be liquefied and stored in a propane gas cylinder or tank.  With a low boiling point of -42°C, propane isn’t affected by cold conditions in Ireland and is therefore ideal for outdoor storage.

Thanks to the high octane rating, propane is ideal for heating, it is efficient as it produces more energy per cubic metre than other forms of fuel.  Additionally, unlike other fossil fuels Propane does not contaminate groundwater or soil.

Butane defined

Butane (C₄H₁₀), like propane, is a form of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG). With its boiling point at -2°C, butane is ideal for indoor use. Butane is perfect for portable gas heaters and single-burner cooking appliances.
