In case of emergency

FAQs for emergency situations

  • Extinguish all naked flames or ignition sources
  • Turn off all gas appliances
  • Do not turn on or off any electrical equipment
  • Turn off the gas supply at the emergency control valve on the pipe, tank, cylinder or meter
  • If the leak is indoors, open doors and windows to increase ventilation
  • Call Calor on the Emergency Numbers: ROI 01 291 6229 or NI 0845 075 5588
  • If the leak is from a butane cylinder inside then move the cylinder outside to a well-ventilated location, if it is safe to do so
  • Call the Emergency Services and inform them of the presence of any gas tanks or cylinders
  • The gas supply should be turned off if practicable and safe to do so
  • Call Calor using the Emergency Number: ROI 01 291 6229 or NI 0845 075 5588 so that the source of CO emissions can be identified and corrected
  • Open all doors and windows to increase the rate of ventilation
  • Where possible turn off all fueled appliances (including cookers) and stop using them. Any appliance burning oil, solid fuels or gas could be responsible
  • If the Alarm continues evacuate the property leaving the doors and windows open
  • Do not re-enter the property until the alarm has stopped
  • Seek medical help immediately for anyone suffering from the effects of Carbon Monoxide poisoning such as headaches, nausea, etc and advise that Carbon Monoxide poisoning is suspected.
  • If urgent call the emergency services

    Symptoms:
    • Headaches
    • Breathlessness
    • Collapse
    • Nausea
    • Dizziness
    • Loss of consciousness
  • Do not use the fuel burning appliances again until they have been checked and cleared for use by a competent person according to national regulations.

Recall Notice Kingavon Gas Heater BB-PG150I product recall

Hamble Distribution Ltd, have identified a potential safety risk with the IGT regulator supplied with their unit, Kingavon branded BB-PG150I 4.2Kw Gas Heater.

The potential risk from these regulators is leaking gas once the gas heater is connected to the gas bottle. This recall only applies to heaters sold between 05 October and 05 November 2017. The affected regulators are date stamped 10/17LYF and images of these are shown below.

Compliance with the Control of Major Accident Hazard (COMAH) Regulations

COMAH Regulations


On account of the quantities of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) we store at our operational depots, certain Calor sites are subject to the Control of Major Accident Hazard (COMAH) legislation and each site’s status is determined by the storage capacity of the site.

The COMAH regulations were transposed into law in our areas of operation as set out below;

Operational Area: Republic of Ireland.

Legislative Instrument: Chemicals Act (Control of Major Accident Hazards involving Dangerous Substances) Regulations 2015 (S.I. 209 of 2015)

Operational Area: Northern Ireland.

Legislative Instrument: The Control of Major Accident Hazards Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2015 (No 325 of 2015)
