Calor Gas Partner with Galway 2020 to Celebrate Culture and Diversity

Calor Gas are proud to be named partner and preferred supplier of Galway 2020, European Capital of Culture. Throughout the year, Galway city and county will showcase a range of events highlighting the richness and diversity of culture in the west of Ireland.

Calor will supply LPG and BioLPG for the opening ceremony and for events taking place throughout the year.

Galway 2020 is the culmination of many years of hard work by local volunteers and the local community.  Calor was made aware of this opportunity by local Rep, Fergal Magee, who works with installers, homeowners and businesses in the Galway region.

Galway’s Opening Ceremony as European Capital of Culture 2020 will showcase the heritage of the City and the nation, while looking proudly to the future.  As part of this, the organisers are working to deliver a sustainable programme of events. As the official gas supplier for Galway 2020, Calor will provide Calor LPG and BioLPG gas cylinders. Calor BioLPG, our renewable gas, has up to 50% less carbon emissions than home heating oil.

To kick start the exciting year, an incredible procession will make its way from all over the county of Galway to join together in the City of the Tribes. The open-air celebration includes music and a cast of performers of all ages and backgrounds drawn from communities across the entire county. It is being created by Wonder Works, the organisation behind the opening ceremony of the London 2012 Olympics.

Commenting on the partnership, Sharon Nolan, Marketing Manager, Calor:

“We are truly delighted to be involved in the Galway 2020 Opening Ceremony and in events taking place throughout the course of the year. Galway is a county steeped in culture and tradition. Calor, as a company, has long-standing links with the local communities throughout Galway and look forward to playing a part in showcasing its beauty, legacy and its people. We are particularly proud to be facilitating a more sustainable programme with Calor BioLPG.”
