Autogas LPG is a cheaper, cleaner alternative fuel. It’s used in cars, vans and trucks in the same way as petrol or diesel.

Autogas LPG is cleaner than other fossil fuels, helping reduce your carbon footprint and improve air quality. It produces 17-23% less CO₂ than petrol³ and cuts polluting hydrocarbons and nitrogen oxides (NOx) by 40%.

Autogas LPG is not only around half the price of petrol or diesel but it is also better for your car, van or truck. As LPG is a cleaner burning fuel than petrol, engine life is extended. Additionally, engine oil and spark plugs need changing less often with LPG, so service costs are reduced⁴

Vehicles powered by Autogas LPG have a comparable MPG (miles per gallon) to petrol or diesel and there’s no noticeable difference to the way the car or truck drives. Nowadays, Autogas vehicles have direct fuel injection systems so give similar speed and acceleration for around half the fuel price.

Conversion to Calor Autogas is simple

Autogas conversion is relatively straightforward for a specialist. It involves adding conversion technology to the car rather than removing its ability to run on petrol or diesel. This turns it into a ‘dual fuel’ vehicle that can run on LPG as well as petrol. The process involves installing a secondary fuel system in your vehicle with a separate tank and Autogas fuel gauge. There’s no need for a replacement engine.

Yes, Autogas is the trading name for LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas) when it’s used to fuel vehicles such as cars, lorries and HGVs. It has the same properties – and advantages - as the LPG used by homes and businesses. Autogas has lower emissions, fuel and maintenance costs than petrol or diesel.

Most petrol and diesel cars can be converted to Autogas LPG, but diesel conversion tends to be more expensive and can result in losing the additional range diesel-fuelled cars offer. 4x4s, vans, classic cars and high performance cars are among those that have been converted to run on Autogas.
