Extend your Living Space into the Great Outdoors

Summertime is here, the sun is shining, and people are turning on their barbecues to enjoy their outdoor living areas.

Many of us are turning to creative ways to update and enhance our gardens, patio and balcony areas.

With the right considerations, furniture and finishing touches, you can enjoy barbecuing with your family in the garden. There’s no requirement for a big budget or an endless amount of free time to spruce up your outdoor living space – a little imagination is all that’s needed.

Dedicated Space

One important consideration when designing your outdoor living space is consistency. Look at the style and colour tones you use indoors and create a similar atmosphere in your outdoor space. This will create a sense of flow from the inside to outside.

Make sure the space is functional and practical to your needs and planned use. Give attention to dimensions and the orientation of your garden. A balcony may require two single chairs and a thin rectangular, all-weather mat while in a large garden you may add decking and a full garden furniture set.

Look at the areas where you get the most sunlight and areas that are shaded from the wind for lighter furniture. Consider adding a Calor barbecue to the space, and now you have an outdoor cooking area.

Keep Warm

Heat isn’t the first thought that comes to mind when you think about Ireland. Yet simple and thoughtful additions to your outdoor space will extend your summer period, allowing you to enjoy the outdoors all year round.

By adding a patio heater and colourful throws, you are free to enjoy long lingering evenings in your garden.  . Calor have a range of

Use Light

Just as it is important to keep warm, you also need to be able to see the people around you while outside, especially in evening time when it gets dark. Adding lights to your garden will brighten up the area and add atmosphere.

Light sources can be solar and LED, there are many different types to choose from, path markers, spotlights, string lights and even lanterns.

The Extras…

Create a comfortable but functional space by adding clever finishing touches. Plants, rocks or a water feature can add a focal point to your area. Storage boxes can add their own colour, help reduce clutter and provide a suitable place for storing rugs, cushions and throws.
